How to wear the cloth diaper?

This is how I store my cloth diaper, in a box, next to my bed, where I will change Caleb's cloth diapers.

Here is a pictorial step by step of how to prepare and use the cloth diaper:

Lay out the cloth diaper, insert, and the nappy liner.

1. Stuff the insert into the cloth diaper, through the back opening.






2. Lay the nappy liner onto the cloth diaper.


3. Now you can lay the baby on top and use it just like a dispoable diaper.


4. The velco will hold the baby in place, and swift fastening for wigglingly babies.



5. The snaps are used for adjusting the setting. If left unsnap, is the largest setting. Snap one down for medium setting. Smallest setting for baby under 3 months.

Also very important to prewash your cloth diapers and inserts at least 3 times in the washing machine before use, to increase its absorbency and wash away the chemicals left during the manufacturing process.

If you need to go out, very simple. Use one cloth bag (called wet bag) to bring home the soiled cloth diaper, inserts and nappy liner, preferably can seal, so as to keep the smell. The other is to pack in a change of 1 clean cloth diaper, 2 inserts and 2 nappy liner. This should last you about 6 hours.

Besides the advantages I have listed ealier, the cloth diapers are a good cost saver, I invested about $400 and i really cut down or going to stop buying disposables. I like to share with more people, as it just "pain" my heart when I see shoppers stock up on disposables, those are going to pile up on the environment landfills, taking 5000 years to decompose. While today we enjoy the convenience, but the price to pay is the environment.

Don't worry about increased laundry costs, it is a minimal amount. In fact, I remembered when my May bill came at $244, I got a rude shock, then thereafter we made a family effort to cut down electricity and the bill came down to $166 and last month $152, and my water cost was at about $24 to $25 average.

Some of you might also say "my child in childcare, don't think they so hardworking to help us change". Well, my feel is that this is my child, and I think it may take some effort to convince or persuade some caretakers to try cloth diapering. If all else fail, then do weekend or weeknight cloth diapering. If there is a will, there is a way! I also persuaded my mother-in-law to help me with cloth diapering, and of course, it takes some getting used to.

What I like about the CD :1. The Twilight blue colour is lovely.2. The inner soft lining stays dry even if the insert is completely soaked thru.3. It saves me money. I think it's a good buy and would recommend it to all mothers.

ive bought 9 of them. and i tried them. it was a very nice n cute design. i promoted those cds to my friends. i gave one of my cds n let her try it, n she satisfied with it. i encouraged her to buy the cd next time. again......it was good n much much much cheaper than other brand.!!!!!

I have tried on my 2 boys, 1 aged 3 year old, and 1 3 month old. My eldest loved the mickey mouse head design. He is very particular in using type of cloth & diaper. I was so affraid that he might not want to wear it. To my surprise, he loved it. As for my youngest, he looks so adorable & cute with CD..... & it is so dry that we can change his inserter every 2-3 hours only... save us a lot of troubles... Thank you ... Now I have 6 CDs already... Well done!

What is the meaning of good quality cloth diaper? Is good quality cloth diaper means they are expensive? You are wrong. I have bough 4 imported cloth diaper which cost $36 to 44 one cloth diaper. To my surprise, the quality from the malaysia brand is better than the imported CD I bought. The soft lining part is dryer compared to the imported CD. Later I ordered another value pack of 3. Wanted to order more buy now I already have 7 CD. For all the CD user, do not judge the quality by the pricing. You need not waste your money buying the imported CD

I have tested the one size cloth diapers on my 4 months baby and it work out excellent.The amazing thing is the soft lining area appear to be more dry compare to the disposable diapers I used. Besides, the diapers served as a fancy pant too

Finally New cloth diapers

I am very happy with the quality of the new diapers that arrived from Malaysia. Take a look at the pictures. They do not leak and the outer cover is very dry!!! while the inserts are soaked, that's what a good cloth diaper is. call me at 94897820 if you like a trial set.

Cheap cloth diapers

I need to have cheap but good cloth diaper, and I received an email from a Malaysia website selling, its prices were unbelivable, at a fraction of what you would get from local malls. About 30% savings and its baby slings about 50% savings, after all, there is lots more things we need to spend on for the next few years, so a little savings is appreciated. I bought 9 and 18 inserts.

The delivery took 1 day to reach my house from Malaysia, and after 3 machine washes, I started cloth diapering full time. I now have a total of 13 cloth diapers and 28 inserts, I have only to do laundry of cloth diaper twice a week.

Here are the advantages of cloth diapering :

a. Save costs in the long run - with the initial outlay of a few hundreds, you break even say about 8 months, and then you diaper for free till about 3 years old, when they are fully potty trained. You can then pass on to subsequent children, or use at the same time, especially if you buy one -size diapers that grow with the babies.

b. Environmentally friendly - disposable diapers contain chemicals, and they take thousand years to disintegrate, leaving a lot of waste in the dumps. You throw away, but the rubbish get piled up somewhere, longer than you and me be around.

c. Potty Training faster - as they can feel the sensation of wetness, and will learn to go toilet. Personally, I also believe that infants can be potty train early. I read a book that authors teach their babies to go toilet, they call " elimination communication" (EC) , so for my son, when he is in between changes of diapers, I will let him go shee shee, and before baths, after meals, wake up and before sleeps. These are possible windows to shee shee. He still dislike the potty though.

Cloth Diapering

My son Caleb is 5 months old, when the search for the perfect disposable diaper took me days to do research on price vs effectiveness. I managed to narrow down to either Mamy Poko, expensive (36 cents) but very good in absorbency, or the cheaper but fast filled ones like Fitti, Pet Pet and Pampers Comfort. I thought my search for diapers should end, and be contented to shop for diapers every month. I was surprised that my 66 Mamy Poko finished less than a month, and I took a combination of only using that at night, and using cheaper ones in the day! That, I believe, is also many mothers' method. So I thought, I can save about $50 a year doing the alternating, until....

I chanced upon a family magazine, where Bumwear, a shop selling cloth diapers, was featured and I started to be convinced and curious to try cloth diapers. I have some white traditional nappies, but my family has lost touch how to fold, and the thought of changing when it is wet or pooed did not appeal to me.

My first research was on Bumwear, I scrutinised the website, familiarised myself with the washing procedure, and then called the shop whom the owner, Rita, nice lady, explained to me the frequency of changing the covers and inserts. So on a Sunday, I swopped $169 for a pack of 4 cloth diapers and 10 inserts.

I was happy with the results, but it was not enough, I run out of inserts and cloth diapers covers before 2 days, and have to rely on disposables again, and to buy some more of the Bumwear, would mean additional outlay to a SAHM like me. How I regret not buying more at the beginning. Of course, as a beginner, nobody would dare to commit buying in bulk, unless they are totally convinced. However, I found the answer when I search for cheaper alternatives. Here is my story and journey. I have put in the results of my nights searching the internets for information gathering, I hope this could be a 1 stop centre for Singapore mothers to try out cloth diapering. You will love it just like I do. And I would like to join in the global and Singapore trend to support cloth diapering.
