Why should you use cloth diapers?

So many parents today mistakenly believe that disposable diapers are the best, indeed the only, diapering choice for their baby. But, not too long ago cloth diapers were the only option. Parents used them with no problem. Here is a look at why cloth diapers are a better choice than disposable diapers.

Disposable diapers have chemicals in them. They are treated to make them super absorbent, but these chemicals against your baby s skin 24 hours a day for the first two and a half years of their life cannot be good. Cloth diapers are made of fabric that is not treated with chemicals that could be harmful. This makes them a healthier choice.

Cloth diapers are a more economical choice in the long run. If you invest in quality cloth diapers and use them properly, they can last you through several children. Over one child s lifetime it costs an estimated $2,000 to keep them in disposable diapers. Reusable cloth diapers can cost as little as $400 $500 including washings. Although the upfront cost is more, the overall cost is much less.

Cloth diapers cause a lot fewer diaper rashes. Because parents who use cloth diapers change their baby much more often, there is less chance for bacteria to build up. This results in fewer painful diaper rashes, and much happier babies.

Cloth diapers are much better for the environment. Millions upon millions of disposable diaper are dumped in landfills each year. The repercussions of this will be felt for generations to come. Cloth diapers can be washed and reused many times. Even after it s life as a diaper, it can be used for other things like dust rags or burp clothes.

Some people argue that cloth diapers are not effectively better than disposables for the environment due to repeated washings. First, the water that is used to wash the diapers can be recycled for other uses. The cost in terms of electricity to wash and dry them is much less than the cost to build new and bigger landfills.

Many parents also report that their child is potty trained sooner than average when they have used cloth diapers. Perhaps it is because parents who use cloth diapers change them more often so the learns to recognize when they are wet.

Many parents are realizing the benefits of cloth diapers. This great economical solution to diapering your baby is coming back into fashion as more and more people are choosing it.

Can a newborn wear Cloth Diaper?

The answer is yes, absolutely! This is because the front of my cloth diapers has snaps that can snapped down to a smaller size, and once baby grows, they can be adjusted to fit the baby till 3years old, that is why, it is called a 1 size cloth diaper.

Each set of cloth diaper has 2 free inserts and cost $25.
Buy a value pack of 3 for $68.
While stocks last!

Start to cloth diaper your baby today!!

Some may be concerned that cloth diapers will leak, so be careful not to use bleach, softener and detergent with strong suds. My cloth diaper cover is waterproof and breathable and the inserts will however be soaked through with pee. With Poo, just rinse and then soak for a while before washing.

Why Cloth diapers ? Saving the environment, 1 baby at a time.....

Another reason why I cloth diaper my son is the realisation to this question :Would you like to wear disposable panties for 3 years of your life? So whose comfort do we work for ? Our convenience or the baby's comfort? If we can ask any baby which will they prefer, dispoable diapers of cloth ? I am sure majority will prefer cloth.

Some parents think that for cloth diapers, have to change more frequently. What we may fail to realise is that both options require constant changing. It is just that for disposable diapers, they are so aborbent because of the chemical in them ( I was surprised to find beads of gel on my son's bottom during a diaper change to learn that it is a chemical component in the diaper that makes it absorbent!). This makes parents think that the disposable diaper is still "dry" and can "tahan" till more "full" then change.

Cloth diapers on the other hand, you can change as often as you like, and you just have to rinse the pee or poo off and sit it in the "dry pail" till it is full, and do a laundry wash. If I use nappy liner, most of the poo will be caught by it, I just dispose the nappy liner into the dustbin. A pack of 100 nappy liners cost about $10. Talk about cost savings!

And cloth diaper makes potty training easier, as they have the wet sensation. Most parents are told to wait till the child is 2 or 3 years then do potty training and not to stress the kids of they are not ready. So, for the first few years, they are conditioned to wear their toilet wherever they go, and at 2 years old, they have to unlearn and go for potty training...well, for my son, during appropriate times, like in between changes, before and after nursing, and upon wake up and before sleep, are opportunities to let them "release" - there is no stress if they choose not to. I will say "Shee Shee" or "ng ng" - I do get some happy experiences that he does go. Ha ha!

Tips. Very important:

a. Always prewash new cloth diapers and inserts in the washing machine before use.
b. Avoid softener and bleach.
c. Use baby detergent such as Pigeon or Kodomo, else Spin or Top detergent should suffice.
